พวก (plural group)
Group plural: “the … (group)”
Structure โครงสร้าง
- พวก + pronoun (we all, you all, they)
- พวก + N (the … as a group)
Usage การใช้
พวก marks a group of people (or things). พวกเรา ‘we (all)’, พวกคุณ ‘you (all)’, พวกเขา ‘they’. With a noun it means ‘the group of …’: พวกเด็ก ‘the kids’. It can also mean ‘that kind of thing’: พวกขนม ‘snacks and so on’.
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- พวกเราจะไปเที่ยวทะเล
We’re going to the beach. - พวกเขายังไม่มา
They haven’t come yet. - พวกเด็ก ๆ เล่นอยู่ในสวน
The kids are playing in the garden. - ผมไม่ค่อยกินพวกขนมหวาน
I don’t eat sweets much.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- พวก + N can sound a bit dismissive about people: พวกนักการเมือง ‘(those) politicians’. For a neutral group, use the plain noun or คน + number.
- เรา alone can already mean ‘we’; พวกเรา makes the group clear.
