TG306Intermediate

ก็ได้

“…is fine too / I suppose so”; mild acceptance

Structure โครงสร้าง

  • V / option + ก็ได้ (… is fine, I suppose)
  • Q-word + ก็ได้ (any … is fine)
  • A + ก็ได้ + B + ก็ได้ (either A or B is fine)
  • ก็ได้ (as an answer: OK, all right)

Usage การใช้

ก็ได้ expresses acceptance: ‘that’s OK too, that’ll do, I don’t mind’. It is often used to offer the listener a choice: คุณกลับก่อนก็ได้นะ ‘You can go home first if you like.’

As a reply it means ‘OK, sure’. It can sound neutral or a bit lukewarm, so tone of voice matters.

Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค

  1. กินอะไรก็ได้
    I’ll eat anything, I don’t mind.
  2. พรุ่งนี้ก็ได้ ไม่รีบ
Tomorrow is fine, there’s no hurry.
  3. จ่ายเงินสดหรือโอนก็ได้ครับ
You can pay cash or by transfer, either is fine.
  4. — ไปกินข้าวกันไหม — ก็ได้
Shall we go eat? — Sure, OK.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต

ได้ vs ก็ได้: ได้ (or ได้เลย) is a clear, willing ‘yes’. ก็ได้ is ‘that’s acceptable’. When someone offers you something nice, ก็ได้ can sound ungrateful.

ก็ได้ vs ก็ดี (TG309): ก็ดี is warmer, ‘that sounds good’.
