Usage การใช้
เมื่อ means ‘when’. It is neutral to formal and common in writing, instructions and narratives. In conversation ตอน (TG260) and พอ (TG274) are more usual.
It is also part of many everyday time words: เมื่อวาน ‘yesterday’, เมื่อเช้า ‘this morning’, เมื่อกี้ ‘a moment ago’, เมื่อก่อน ‘in the past, formerly’.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
✗ Unnatural: เมื่อคุณจะไป (meaning ‘When will you go?’)
✓ Use instead: คุณจะไปเมื่อไร (When will you go?)
Why: เมื่อ is not a question word. ‘When?’ is เมื่อไร, at the end (TG070).
