Structure โครงสร้าง
- S + V (+ O) + มา + time + แล้ว (have been …ing for …)
- S + V + มา(ได้) + time + แล้ว
- S + V + มานานแล้ว (for a long time)
Usage การใช้
มา … แล้ว after a verb expresses a duration up to now: ‘have been (doing) for …’. มา shows the action has continued up to the present; แล้ว shows the time has accumulated.

- เรียนภาษาไทยมาสองปีแล้ว
I’ve been studying Thai for two years. - ผมอยู่ที่นี่มาห้าปีแล้ว
I’ve lived here for five years. - รอมาชั่วโมงหนึ่งแล้ว
I’ve been waiting for an hour. - รู้จักกันมานานแล้ว
We’ve known each other for a long time.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
✗ Unnatural: ผมเรียนภาษาไทยตั้งแต่สองปี
✓ Use instead: ผมเรียนภาษาไทยมาสองปีแล้ว (I’ve been studying Thai for two years.)
Why: ตั้งแต่ needs a starting point (ตั้งแต่ปี 2023). A length of time uses มา … แล้ว.
