Structure โครงสร้าง
- S + บอก( + person )ว่า + statement (said / told)
- S + ถาม( + person )ว่า + question (asked)
- S + บอกให้ + person + V (told someone to: TG177)
Usage การใช้
To report speech, use บอกว่า ‘said that’ or ถามว่า ‘asked’. The listener can go between: บอกผมว่า ‘told me that’. The reported part keeps the same words as the original, but pronouns may change. For commands, use บอกให้.

He said he isn’t free. - แม่บอกผมว่าจะกลับดึก
Mum told me she’d be back late. - ครูถามว่าทำการบ้านหรือยัง
The teacher asked whether we’d done the homework. - หัวหน้าบอกให้ผมส่งงานพรุ่งนี้
My boss told me to hand in the work tomorrow.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- ว่า is needed: เขาบอกไม่ว่าง is common in fast speech, but in careful speech and writing use บอกว่า.
- For reported questions with yes/no, keep the question word: ถามว่าจะมาไหม ‘asked whether (I) would come’.
