ดีกว่า (it's better to …)

“It's better to …”; used for suggestions and preferences

Structure โครงสร้าง

  • VP + ดีกว่า (it’s better to … / let’s …)
  • VP + กันดีกว่า (let’s … instead)
  • A + ดีกว่า + B (A is better than B)

Usage การใช้

At the end of a verb phrase, ดีกว่า gives a soft suggestion or a decision: ‘it’s better to …, I think I’ll …, let’s …’. Often there is an unstated alternative being rejected.

With กัน it becomes a group suggestion: กลับกันดีกว่า ‘Let’s head back.’

It is gentler than ควร ‘should’ (TG156).
