Usage การใช้
สมมติว่า means ‘suppose (that), let’s say’. It sets up an imaginary or hypothetical situation, often to ask what someone would do or to work through an example.
You will also see the spelling สมมุติ.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
สมมติว่า vs ถ้า: สมมติว่า stresses that the situation is imaginary, or only for the sake of argument. For an ordinary real condition, such as an invitation, ถ้า (TG259) is the normal word: ถ้าพรุ่งนี้คุณว่าง มาบ้านผมนะ.
