Usage การใช้
อยู่ after a verb phrase shows a continuing action or state: ‘is (in the middle of) doing’. It is very common in speech and is often used on its own without กำลัง.
It also works with states: เขาป่วยอยู่ ‘he’s (currently) sick’, ใส่เสื้อแดงอยู่ ‘is wearing a red shirt’.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
อยู่ at the end (progressive) vs อยู่ as a main verb (location, TG027): เขาอยู่บ้าน ‘He’s at home’; เขาทำงานอยู่ ‘He’s working.’
