Usage การใช้
ห้าม means ‘forbidden, not allowed’. It is used for rules, laws and signs (ห้ามสูบบุหรี่ ‘No smoking’), and in speech for strong prohibitions. As a verb it means ‘forbid, stop someone’.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
ห้าม sounds strict. For friendly advice, use อย่า (TG088): อย่ากลับดึกนะ ‘Don’t come home too late, okay?’
