Usage การใช้
อย่างไรก็ตาม means ‘however, nevertheless’. It opens a sentence that qualifies or contrasts with the previous one. It is formal or written. In speech use แต่, or แต่ยังไงก็ตาม for a stronger ‘but anyway’.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
✗ Unnatural: อาหารแพง อย่างไรก็ตาม อร่อย (chatting)
✓ Use instead: อาหารแพง แต่อร่อย (The food is pricey, but it’s good.)
Why: อย่างไรก็ตาม is for formal writing. In casual speech use แต่.
