นัก- / ผู้- / ช่าง- / คน-

Agent nouns: person who does X

Structure โครงสร้าง

  • นัก + V / N (a person devoted to, a professional)
  • ผู้ + V (the person who V: formal)
  • ช่าง + N / V (a skilled tradesperson)
  • คน + V / N (a person who … : everyday)

Usage การใช้

These prefixes make words for people. นัก is for people who do something as an occupation or passion (นักเรียน ‘student’, นักร้อง ‘singer’). ผู้ is formal and general (ผู้จัดการ ‘manager’, ผู้ชนะ ‘winner’). ช่าง is for skilled manual work (ช่างตัดผม ‘barber’, ช่างไฟ ‘electrician’). คน is everyday (คนขับรถ ‘driver’, คนไทย ‘Thai person’).

Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค

  1. น้องผมเป็นนักเรียนมัธยม
My younger brother is a high school student.
  2. ผู้จัดการไม่อยู่ครับ
    The manager isn’t here.
  3. พรุ่งนี้ช่างไฟจะมาซ่อม
The electrician is coming to fix it tomorrow.
  4. คนขับรถรออยู่ข้างนอก
    The driver is waiting outside.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต

  • These prefixes are not freely interchangeable; each word is fixed. นักเรียน, not ผู้เรียน, is ‘student’ in school (ผู้เรียน exists but means ‘learners’ in formal writing).
