No tense marking
Verbs never change form; time words or context show time
Structure โครงสร้าง
- (time word) + S + V (no change to the verb)
- S + จะ / กำลัง / แล้ว / เคย + V (aspect words, when needed)
Usage การใช้
Thai verbs never change form: ไป means ‘go, went, gone, going’. When something happens is shown by time words (เมื่อวาน, พรุ่งนี้, ตอนนี้), by aspect words such as จะ, กำลัง, แล้ว, เคย, or simply by context.
If the time is already clear, no extra word is needed at all.
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- เมื่อวานผมไปตลาด
Yesterday I went to the market. - พรุ่งนี้ผมไปตลาด
I’m going to the market tomorrow. - ทุกเช้าผมไปตลาด
I go to the market every morning. - ตอนเด็ก ๆ เขาอยู่ที่เชียงใหม่
When he was a child, he lived in Chiang Mai.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
Learners often add แล้ว or จะ to every sentence. They are only needed when the time isn’t clear or the aspect matters: เมื่อวานผมไปตลาด is complete without แล้ว.
