มา / ไป before a verb (attitude)
“Come and (do something to me / us)” vs “go and (affect others)”; common in complaints and warnings
Structure โครงสร้าง
- มา + V (come and do something, often to me / us)
- ไป + V (go and do something, often to others)
Usage การใช้
Before a verb, มา and ไป can add the speaker’s attitude rather than real movement. มา + V points the action at the speaker and often sounds like a complaint: มาโทษผมทำไม ‘why come and blame me?’ ไป + V points it at someone else, often in warnings or criticism: อย่าไปยุ่งกับเขา ‘don’t go meddling with him’.
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- มาโทษผมทำไม ผมไม่ได้ทำ
Why blame me? I didn’t do it. - อย่าไปบอกใครนะ
Don’t go telling anyone. - ใครมากินขนมผมหมด
Who went and ate all my snacks? - เขาไปด่าเพื่อนต่อหน้าคนอื่น
He went and told his friend off in front of others.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- Without มา/ไป the sentence is still correct but neutral: ทำไมโทษผม ‘why do you blame me?’. Adding มา makes the complaint stronger and more natural in speech.
