Structure โครงสร้าง
- ต่างคนต่าง + V (each person separately)
- ต่างฝ่ายต่าง + V (each side)
- plural S + ต่าง(ก็) + V (each and every one)
Usage การใช้
ต่างคนต่าง + V means each person does it on their own, separately: ต่างคนต่างไป ‘each went their own way’.
Before a verb with a plural subject, ต่าง (ก็) means ‘each, all (individually)’.
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- หลังเลิกงาน ต่างคนต่างกลับบ้าน
After work, everyone goes home separately. - ต่างคนต่างอยู่ ไม่ยุ่งกัน
Everyone keeps to themselves and doesn’t interfere. - ต่างฝ่ายต่างไม่ยอมกัน
Neither side would give in. - นักเรียนต่างก็ตั้งใจฟัง
The students all listened attentively.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
ต่าง as an adjective means ‘different’ (ต่างกัน, TG224).
✗ Unnatural: ต่างคนต่างกินข้าวด้วยกัน
✓ Use instead: ทุกคนกินข้าวด้วยกัน / ต่างคนต่างกิน (Everyone ate together. / Everyone ate separately.)
Why: ต่างคนต่าง means ‘separately’, which contradicts ด้วยกัน ‘together’.
