Structure โครงสร้าง
- ไม่ใช่ + A (noun) + แต่ + (เป็น) + B
- S + ไม่ได้ + V/Adj + แต่ + V/Adj
- ไม่ใช่ว่า + clause + แต่ + clause (it’s not that …, but …)
Usage การใช้
‘Not A but B’. Use ไม่ใช่ to deny a noun or an identity. To deny a verb or adjective, use ไม่ได้ (TG092) instead.
ไม่ใช่ว่า … แต่ … means ‘It’s not that …, it’s that …’ and is very useful for polite explanations.

Not today, but tomorrow. - เขาไม่ใช่ครู แต่เป็นหมอ
He’s not a teacher, he’s a doctor. - ผมไม่ได้โกรธ แต่แค่เหนื่อย
I’m not angry, I’m just tired. - ไม่ใช่ว่าผมไม่อยากไป แต่ผมไม่มีเวลาจริง ๆ
It’s not that I don’t want to go; I really don’t have time.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
✗ Unnatural: เขาไม่ใช่โกรธ แต่เหนื่อย
✓ Use instead: เขาไม่ได้โกรธ แต่แค่เหนื่อย (He’s not angry, just tired.)
Why: ไม่ใช่ negates nouns. Adjectives and verbs take ไม่ได้.
