ก่อน / ก่อนที่จะ
“Before”
Structure โครงสร้าง
- V1 + ก่อน + V2 (do V1 before V2)
- ก่อน(ที่) + S + จะ + V, main clause
- ก่อน + N (before …)
Usage การใช้
ก่อน before a verb or noun means ‘before’. With a full clause that has its own subject, use ก่อนที่ + S + จะ + V. The subject goes between ที่ and จะ.
If the subject is the same as in the main clause, it is dropped: ก่อนนอน ‘before (I) sleep’.
ก่อน at the end of a clause means ‘first’ (TG150): ไปก่อนนะ.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
✗ Unnatural: ก่อนที่จะเขามา
✓ Use instead: ก่อนที่เขาจะมา (before he comes)
Why: The subject sits between ที่ and จะ.
