Usage การใช้
จาก marks the starting point: a place, a person or a time. มาจาก is the usual way to say where someone is from.

I got a present from Mum. - จากที่นี่ไปสนามบินกี่กิโล
How many kilometres is it from here to the airport? - ร้านเปิดจากเก้าโมงถึงสองทุ่ม
The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- For time ranges, ตั้งแต่ … ถึง … (TG278) is more common than จาก … ถึง …: ร้านเปิดตั้งแต่เก้าโมงถึงสองทุ่ม. จาก is fine but ตั้งแต่ sounds more natural for time.
