ไม่ต้อง
“Don't need to / no need to”
Structure โครงสร้าง
- ไม่ต้อง + V (no need to …, don’t have to)
- ไม่ต้อง (no need, it’s fine)
Usage การใช้
ไม่ต้อง is the negative of ต้อง ‘must’ (TG155). It means ‘no need to’, ‘don’t have to’. It is also a polite way to refuse an offer: ไม่ต้องครับ ‘No need, thanks.’
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- ไม่ต้องห่วง
Don’t worry. (No need to worry.) - พรุ่งนี้ไม่ต้องมาทำงาน
You don’t have to come to work tomorrow. - ไม่ต้องใส่น้ำตาลนะคะ
No sugar, please. - — ใส่ถุงไหมคะ — ไม่ต้องครับ
Would you like a bag? — No need, thanks.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
‘Must not’ (prohibition) is ห้าม or อย่า, not ไม่ต้อง. ไม่ต้องไป = ‘you don’t have to go’; อย่าไป = ‘don’t go’.
