Usage การใช้
ตาม means ‘follow’. As a preposition it means ‘according to, as’ (ทำตามที่บอก ‘do as I said’), ‘along’ (เดินตามถนน) or ‘around various places’ (ตามร้านทั่วไป ‘at shops in general’). As a verb, ตาม means ‘follow’ or ‘go and fetch someone’.

Do as the doctor said. - เดินตามถนนเส้นนี้ไปเรื่อย ๆ
Keep walking along this road. - ตามกฎหมาย ห้ามสูบบุหรี่ในร้าน

You can buy this kind of thing at convenience stores.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- ตามใจ means ‘as you like’: ตามใจคุณ ‘it’s up to you’.
