Usage การใช้
เท่าไร (spoken เท่าไหร่) asks about an amount: price, age, size, distance, numbers that are not counted with a classifier.
For things you count one by one, Thai uses กี่ + classifier (TG074).

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
With countable things, use กี่ + classifier instead.
For people and things that are counted one by one, the natural question is กี่ + classifier: คุณมีลูกกี่คน ‘How many children do you have?’ เท่าไหร่ is for amounts and prices.
ไม่ … เท่าไร in a statement means ‘not very’ (TG091).
