หนึ่ง (indefinite "a")
After a classifier หนึ่ง means “a, one (some)”
Structure โครงสร้าง
- N + CLF + หนึ่ง (a / one N, indefinite)
- N + หนึ่ง + CLF (exactly one N)
Usage การใช้
After a classifier, หนึ่ง (often pronounced นึง) works like English ‘a / an’ or ‘a certain’: ขอกาแฟแก้วหนึ่ง ‘a cup of coffee, please’. Before the classifier, หนึ่ง stresses the number ‘one’: กาแฟหนึ่งแก้ว ‘one cup of coffee’ (as when ordering exact quantities).
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- ขอกาแฟแก้วหนึ่ง
A cup of coffee, please. - มีผู้ชายคนหนึ่งมาหาคุณ
A man came to see you. - เมื่อวันหนึ่ง…
One day… - ขอข้าวผัดหนึ่งจาน น้ำเปล่าสองขวด
One fried rice and two bottles of water.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
Both orders are natural. CLF + หนึ่ง sounds like ‘a (some)’; หนึ่ง + CLF sounds like counting.
