ข้าม / รอบ / ตลอด / ทั่ว

Structure โครงสร้าง
- V + ข้าม + N (across)
- V + รอบ + N (around)
- V + (N) + ตลอด + time / place (all the way, throughout)
- V + ทั่ว + place (all over)
Usage การใช้
These words describe the path of a movement or how far something spreads. ข้าม is across, รอบ goes around, ตลอด covers the whole time or length, and ทั่ว covers a whole area.
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- เขาเดินข้ามถนน
He walked across the street. - เราขี่จักรยานรอบทะเลสาบ
We rode bikes around the lake. - ฝนตกตลอดทั้งวัน
It rained all day. - เขาไปเที่ยวมาทั่วประเทศไทยแล้ว
He has travelled all over Thailand.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- ตลอด is for time or a line (ตลอดทาง ‘all the way’), ทั่ว is for an area (ทั่วโลก ‘all over the world’). ตลอดโลก is not used.
✗ Unnatural: เขาไปเที่ยวมาตลอดโลก
✓ Use instead: เขาไปเที่ยวมาทั่วโลก (He has travelled all over the world.)
Why: ตลอด covers time or a route; an area needs ทั่ว.
