Structure โครงสร้าง
- S + V (+ O) + แล้ว (already, has done)
- Adj + แล้ว (has become, now)
- V + เสร็จแล้ว (has finished: TG128)
Usage การใช้
แล้ว at the end of a clause shows that an action is completed or that a situation has changed: กินแล้ว ‘(I’ve) already eaten’, ฝนหยุดแล้ว ‘the rain has stopped’.
With adjectives it means a new state has been reached: หิวแล้ว ‘I’m hungry now’, ดึกแล้ว ‘it’s late now’.
It is the normal ‘yes’ answer to a หรือยัง question (TG065).

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
แล้ว at the end (completion) vs แล้ว(ก็) between clauses ‘and then’ (TG262).
✗ Unnatural: เมื่อวานผมไปแล้วตลาด
✓ Use instead: เมื่อวานผมไปตลาดแล้ว / เมื่อวานผมไปตลาด (I went to the market yesterday.)
Why: แล้ว goes after the whole verb phrase, including the object.
