อะไร
“What” (stays in object position, no movement)
Structure โครงสร้าง
- S + V + อะไร ? (what … ?)
- N + อะไร ? (what N / what kind of N?)
- อะไร + V ? (what … ?, as subject)
Usage การใช้
อะไร means ‘what’. Thai does not move question words to the front: อะไร stays where the answer would go. ‘What are you eating?’ is literally ‘You eat what?’ กินอะไร.
After a noun it means ‘what kind of / which’: อาหารอะไร ‘what food?’
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- นี่คืออะไร
What is this? - กินอะไรดี
What shall we eat? - คุณชื่ออะไร
What’s your name? - อะไรทำให้คุณเรียนภาษาไทย
What made you study Thai?
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
Because the word stays in place, the English order ‘What + verb’ is wrong in Thai.
✗ Unnatural: อะไรคุณกิน
✓ Use instead: คุณกินอะไร (What are you eating?)
Why: The question word stays in the object position.
อะไร can also mean ‘something / anything’ in yes/no questions: มีอะไรไหม ‘Is there anything?’ (TG076).
