สัก + number / CLF
“About, just (a few)”; in negatives “not even one”; softens requests
Structure โครงสร้าง
- สัก + number / CLF (just, about: softening)
- V + สัก + CLF + หนึ่ง (just one …)
- ไม่ + V + สัก + CLF (not even one)
Usage การใช้
สัก before a number or classifier makes a request or suggestion sound small and easy: ‘just a …, around …’. ขอน้ำสักแก้ว ‘Could I have a glass of water?’
In negative sentences, สัก means ‘not even one’: ไม่มีสักคน ‘not a single person’.
Examples ตัวอย่างประโยค
- ขอน้ำสักแก้วได้ไหม
Could I have a glass of water? - รอสักครู่นะคะ
Please wait a moment. - ไปเที่ยวสักสามวันดีไหม
How about a trip of about three days? - ไม่มีใครมาสักคน
Not a single person came.
Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
สัก vs ประมาณ (TG046): both can mean ‘about’, but สัก is mainly a softener in requests and suggestions, while ประมาณ is a neutral estimate.
