Usage การใช้
The four direction words เข้า ‘in’, ออก ‘out’, ขึ้น ‘up’ and ลง ‘down’ combine with ไป/มา to show both the direction and whether the movement is towards or away from the speaker. They can follow another verb: เดินเข้ามา ‘walk in (towards me)’, วิ่งออกไป ‘run out (away)’.

- ขึ้น / ลง after an adjective mean ‘more’ and ‘less’ (TG135): อ้วนขึ้น ‘got fatter’, ผอมลง ‘got thinner’.
