ทาง before an institution refers to it as an actor, especially in polite or official talk: ทางโรงเรียน ‘the school’, ทางบริษัท ‘the company’, ทางโรงแรม ‘the hotel (management)’. It also refers to a side or family: ทางบ้าน ‘my family’, ทางแม่ ‘on my mother’s side’.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
- Without ทาง the sentence is still correct: โรงเรียนให้หนังสือผม. ทาง makes it sound like the institution as a whole, and is common in customer service.
