“This/that N” uses a classifier

- N + CLF + นี้ / นั้น / โน้น (this / that / that over there N)
- CLF + นี้ (this one: อันนี้, คนนี้)
Usage การใช้
To say ‘this N’ or ‘that N’, put the classifier between the noun and นี้ / นั้น / โน้น: หมาตัวนี้ ‘this dog’. In speech the noun can be dropped when it’s clear: เอาอันนี้ ‘I’ll take this one.’

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
With some common nouns the classifier is often dropped: ร้านนี้, วันนี้, ที่นี่. With most countable things, keep it: ‘this pen’ is ปากกาด้ามนี้ or, casually, ปากกาอันนี้.
