Structure โครงสร้าง
- ระหว่าง(ที่) + clause, + main clause
- ขณะ(ที่) + clause, + main clause (more formal)
- ระหว่าง + N (during / between)
- A …, ในขณะที่ B … (whereas)
Usage การใช้
ระหว่างที่ and ขณะที่ mean ‘while’: something happens during another ongoing activity. ระหว่างที่ is neutral. ขณะที่ is more formal and common in writing and rules.
ระหว่าง + noun means ‘during’ (ระหว่างการประชุม) or ‘between’ (ระหว่างบ้านกับโรงเรียน).
ในขณะที่ can also contrast two facts: ‘whereas’.

Subtle differences ข้อสังเกต
ระหว่างที่ / ขณะที่ describe an activity in progress. For a period of life, the everyday word is ตอน (TG260): ตอนผมเด็ก ๆ ผมอยู่เชียงใหม่. ขณะที่ยังเด็ก sounds literary.
